Upcoming Events in Laurelhurst

General Open Neighborhood meeting on Tuesday Nov. 10th at 6:30pm at the Laurelhurst Club (3721 SE Ankeny).

• The Laurelhurst Studio will share how the renovations are progressing and how their programing is shaping up for the upcoming year. The Studio is an integral part of our Laurelhurst community. Additional renovations and funding are needed to make the space fully operational and realize its full potential as a neighborhood gathering place. Programming is underway, with more classes, activities and community opportunities to be added in the coming months.

• Members of the Laurelhurst PTA will discuss the impacts to current PPS rightsizing proposals. These proposals impact schools across Portland and our neighborhood schools. The proposals include converting Laurelhurst Elementary from a K-8 to a K-5, with middle school grade students moving to Mt Tabor Middle School.

The district is considering closing or consolidating 11 to 14 schools (with initial exploratory figures suggesting up to 15 elementary and 3 middle schools out of 81 total campuses). This scale is unprecedented for PPS, which has never closed more than four schools in a single year.
